Consists of legislative files and records, subject files, minutes, correspondence, memoranda, proclamations, executive orders, news releases, appointments, printed material, speeches, and constituent correspondence. Series relates primarily to administration of state government agencies and state institutions. June 17, 2009 accession consists of 12.5 ft of material from Gary Helgeson, who worked for Governor Olson from the Governor's time as Attorney General to the end of Olson's term as Governor, the material in this accession generally concern Garrison Diversion Project, and illistrate the legal and political manueverings the state went through during the late seventies and early eighties to get funding for and approval from the Federal Government. Boxes 101 to 110 contain the office files while boxes 110 to 113 contain publications on or about Garrison Diversion.

Allen I. Olson was born in Rolla, N.D. in 1938. He received both his undergraduate and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of North Dakota. Olson was active in the United States Army, first as a Judge Advocate General's Corps lawyer, and then as the Chief of Military Justice in Munich, West Germany.
